Play is the work of the child. — Maria Montessori
Early Childhood is a time for playing. Play invites children’s creativity and inquiries! Play helps a child process what they are learning or hearing in their world. Often adults consider play a waste of time, or a way to pass the time, but children need to play, and it is an integral part of a healthy childhood! At Maple Ridge Farm, there is lots of time to play!
Young children love to ask questions. Curious and open to learn, their minds are like sponges, absorbing information all of the time. As adults in the lives of little ones, it is our obligation to protect these young minds, by providing an environment where it is safe to ask questions, while helping them build knowledge, meaningful memories, and communication skills through play.
The website Healthypeople.gov states that Early Childhood is usually defined as birth to eight years of age. Children show tremendous growth in their physical, cognitive, social-emotional, and language development during this time. To think that a newborn can grow into a small person with memories, opinions, and so much knowledge by the time they are eight years old is incredible.
A lifetime of learning is ahead of your child...why spend the early childhood years inside the four walls of a classroom? There is plenty of time for learning in a classroom setting as the child matures. An outdoor based early learning program will help prepare your child for a lifelong love of learning, and an appreciation for nature and our earth.
An Invitation to Play at Maple Ridge Farm honors children in a way that allows them to flourish and celebrates each child as unique. During the time a child is with us they are encouraged, loved, protected, and engaged in lots of play! We strive to provide the best care possible, with our focus being on the child, providing experiences that go beyond what any screen could provide. Maple Ridge Farm creates a safe, nurturing setting where childhood is valued, respected, and treasured.
